私たちの想い：

廃棄予定・買い替え予定のヨガマットを回収さ せていただけませんか。 そのマットは、私たちの⼿でsatanama sandalとして、⽣ まれ変わり、また新たに役⽬を持って世の中に使われてい きます。

私たちは、寿命を迎えたマットの「素材」「形状」を活か した「アップサイクル」として、ヨガマットを新たなプロ ダクトとして⽣まれ変わらせるプロジェクトを⾏っています。

現在、サンダルを製作しています。他にも、新たなプロダクトを開発中です。

ヨガマットは私たちの⽇々の変化や成⻑に寄り添ってくれ た物です。

ポイと捨ててしまうのは なんだか寂しいですよ ね。

satanamaメンバーのＭＩＹＡとMaiko Kurataは、8年間スタジオを運営する中でスタジオ内、イベント 等で廃棄にヨガマットをすることが幾度かあり、また、⾃⾝がマットを買い替える時、その度に何かこのまま 捨てる事に、ためらいを感じました。

更に、その想いとと もに 消費されていくヨガマットの”ゴミを減らすこと”に対 して出来ることはないかと考えました。

このプロジェクトは、これまでの原料に戻すという「リサ イクル」という考え⽅ではなく、「⽤途」も加味して原料 に戻す際のエネルギーの消費も抑えることで少しだけ、地 球にやさしい暮らしにも貢献したい、そんな想いも込めら れています。

satanama sandal is always looking for studios, manufacturers and individuals to help collect mats that would otherwise be discarded.

If it is time to replace your studio mats, or sample mats used in your shop have accumulated in storage and you are thinking of throwing them away, please contact us:

COLLECTION CAMPAIGNS

If our project resonates with you, you can collect unwanted mats from students or customers at your studio or shop. Manufacturers, retailers, individuals organizing collection events, and freelance yoga instructors who want to collect mats during classes are all welcome to get in touch.

We will send your shop or studio a set of satanama sandal yoga mat collection displays, cards and posters.

We will discuss collection methods and timeframes individually. For example, in and around Tokyo we can arrange a date to pick up the mats. Outside that area, we ask you to arrange shipping.

WHAT WE SEND

Collection display: approximately postcard size.

Cards: business-card size.

Collection poster: A3 size.

Installation example: Studio BEAURA displays these at its reception.

OUR VISION

May we collect the yoga mats you plan to discard or replace? In our hands, those mats will be reborn as satanama sandals, taking on a new purpose and returning to use.

Our project upcycles mats at the end of their useful lives, retaining their materials and form to create new products. We currently make sandals and are developing other products.

Yoga mats have supported our daily changes and growth. Simply throwing them away feels sad.

During eight years running a studio, satanama members MIYA and Maiko Kurata have had to dispose of mats at the studio and events. When replacing our own mats, too, we always felt hesitant about just throwing them out. We wondered what we could do to reduce the waste created by yoga mat consumption.

Rather than recycling by returning mats to raw materials, this project considers new uses for them while also reducing the energy required to process them back into raw materials. Through this, we hope to contribute, even a little, to a more earth-friendly way of life.
